Established by the Indian Space Research, Organisation, Department of Space, Government of India, the Institution started functioning from July 2, 1973 and is affiliated to the Central Board of Secondary Education. The school is meant for imparting quality education primarily to the wards of the employees of SDSC, SHAR. Nevertheless it also caters to the educational needs of the children of those working in the supporting agencies like State Bank of India, Post Office, Satish Dhawan Memorial Hospital, etc., The institution is a full fledged Senior Secondary School and has its branches in Pulicat nagar and Swarnamukhi Nagar residential colonies.
